Heart is at the center of everything we do (not the badass, female powered rock band, but they are at the top of our most-played list), from working out of my home to be closer to my family, to my mission of empowering women to support themselves through solopreneurship.
This mission started for me when I received a layoff notice – the day I came home from the hospital with my newborn son. My entire department had been liquidated and restructured, and I had the choice of returning immediately to work with the guarantee of an equivalent job or returning when I was ready, with no guarantee that a position would be available.
I decided that my son’s crucial first months were too important to miss, so I stumbled into the world of freelancing. I’d already helped many blogger friends along where I could, which quickly grew into a referral base and snowballed into a career that has given me the freedom to help the people and causes I believe in while supporting my family.
I think it’s important to support each other’s journeys, just as others supported mine. This is why I have such a place in my heart for bloggers who are growing and building their empires, for cause-based commerce, for mompreneurs who are hustling to make it happen.
We all need someone on our team, and like so many others have been on mine, I want to be on yours. Let’s grow together.
